In September, MDP joined a team from the BBFS to conduct a shark survey in the Marquesas Keys, FL. This area is a collection of mangrove islets that forms a large circle around a shallow seagrass lagoon. We used the R/V Dante Fassell as a research platform and took two small boats into the lagoon to work each night. This year we tried fishing at several locations all around the lagoon and captured both juvenile lemon sharks and bonnetheads. A team also fished the flats during the day to sample some sub-adult sharks.
